Alana Reid is contending that she is still in the form that took her to the 10.92 seconds win in the Class One girls' 100 metres at the recent ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys and Girls' Athletics Championships.

Reid will run the 100 metres at the East Coast International Showcase meet in Landover, Maryland, scheduled for this weekend. She promises another big performance.

"Yes, I am still in fantastic shape, and once I do remain positive, I expect another special moment," the national junior 100 metres record holder said in an interview with STAR Sports before her final training at Prince George Sports And Learning Complex yesterday.

Reid will take to the track tomorrow in the girls' 100 metres at the East Coast International Showcase and faces the British Virgin Island's Adaejah Hodge, the second-fastest junior in the world so far this season with 11.11 seconds.

According to Reid, she will focus on herself and not the competition.

"My focus is on myself and what I hope to achieve at the end of the race. For me, it is just to come here in Maryland and do my best and what I am capable of doing," she stated. "I just want to have a positive mindset, as I am capable of doing what I do best."

Coming off cold and windy conditions at the Penn Relays, where she led Hydel to their first 4x100 metres relay win, the conditions in Maryland are a bit colder, but Reid is not deterred.

"I have been in worst conditions before as Eugene, Oregon, was extremely cold, and I am not concerned about the weather, as once as I stay focused and do what I am supposed to do, the rest will be history," she said.
