'Southie' killed in alleged police shooting in Kingston East

The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) was summoned to the scene of another fatal police shooting this morning on Madden Street in Kingston East.

The STAR understands that the shooting occurred about 6:30 a.m. and there is now an active scene of investigation.

Reports are that one man was killed during an alleged confrontation with the police and a firearm seized.

The deceased man is known as 'Southie'.

INDECOM says that as at October 9, there were 235 fatal shootings in Jamaica for this year.

There were three fatal shootings for the month at that point.

The JDF has since urged mariners and residents along the south coast to remain vigilant for any signs of the missing fisherman and to report sightings to the JRCC Kingston at (876) 976-8193 or (876) 836-1216.
