Skeng Don’s daughter charged over crash that killed four, including child
Kengu Black, the daughter of well-known Manchester businessman and political activist Skeng Don, is now facing the courts after being charged for a horrific highway crash that left four people dead, including a child.
Black, a university student of a Mandeville, Manchester address, appeared in the St Catherine Parish Court on Monday, where she was charged with four counts of causing death by dangerous driving. She was granted bail in the sum of $800,000 with surety.
The bail application was made by her attorney, Christopher Townsend. In granting bail, Acting Senior Parish Court Judge Janelle Nelson-Gayle ordered Black to surrender her travel documents and submit her fingerprints to the authorities.
The matter is to return to court on February 6 next year.
The charges stem from a fatal collision along the PJ Patterson Highway shortly after midnight on March 30, 2025. Allegations are that Black was driving a 2022 Mercedes SUV when the vehicle collided with a Toyota Probox near the exit of the highway.
Reports are that the Probox had earlier struck the median and overturned. It is further alleged that while the occupants were exiting the vehicle, they were hit by Black's SUV.
Those killed in the crash were 22-year-old Tyesha Manhertz, 29-year-old Wendy Lammie, 27-year-old Andre McLeish, and eight-year-old Trey Stewart.
Both vehicles were extensively damaged. Black was later warned for prosecution and subsequently charged following the completion of investigations.
